We believe the spirit of the Lord is active and present within our school and classroom, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share this with your children.
Our Story
Berean Preschool + Kindergarten is a nonprofit organization licensed by the Department of Children, Youth, and Families. The school was founded in 1981as Berean Education Center and now has assumed the name of Berean Preschool. We added the “+ Kindergarten” in 2025 but our legal name remains unchanged.
The school began as a combined effort between Berean Baptist Church and church members with a desire to express a loving and Christ centered learning environment for children. We are now our own operating entity that has a standing partnership with Berean Baptist Church.
Berean Preschool + Kindergarten opened its doors with one simple goal: to provide families with a quality, faith-based early learning experience. More than four decades later, we’ve grown in size and programming, but our mission remains the same. We feel honored to partner with families as we help set their children up for joy-filled success in learning.
Our team is made up of full-time and part-time teachers, assistants, and classroom aides. All staff meet DCYF qualification standards and receive ongoing training as part of their continued professional development.
-

Secure & Safe Enviornment
Our building includes campus security measures such as keypad entry, exterior door alarms, classroom monitoring, daily attendance logs, and carefully maintained classrooms designed with young children in mind.
-

Onsite Nurse
An onsite nurse helps support the health and wellness of our students throughout the school day. Encouraging wellness practices and helping guide illness policies. This provides an added layer of care and reassurance for families.
-

Small Group Sizes
Small group sizes allow our teachers to provide more personalized attention, meaningful interaction, and intentional guidance throughout the day. This creates a classroom environment where each child can feel seen, supported, and encouraged as they develop socially, emotionally, academically, and spiritually.
-

Healthy Environment
Our physical space is well maintained by a dedicated facilities team as well as intentional oversight from our staff. Daily safety checks, routine washing and sanitizing of resources, and ongoing maintenance and inspection practices support the well-being of every child.
-

Our Time Outdoors
Outdoor time is an important part of a child’s development, offering space for movement, exploration, creativity, and connection with the world around them. Our outdoor activities encourage children to build confidence, strengthen motor skills, enjoy fresh air, and experience God’s creation through active play.
-

Communication
We value strong communication between school and home, which is why we uses Brightwheel to keep families informed. Parents can receive updates, photos, reminders, and important classroom communication, helping them stay connected to their child’s daily experience.
-

Servant Hearts
We love to connect our students with the world around them by fostering a sense of awareness and service. We participate in service projects throughout the year and foster a mission-minded perspective in our students.
-

Rhythm & Praise
Music is woven into the classroom experience to support communication, creativity, memory, and joyful learning. In addition, we have a music specialist who enriches our program through engaging music experiences that build confidence, rhythm, expression, praise, and a love for music.
Teaching Guide
God created every child with unique gifts and talents and we hold that thought in the forefront of our minds as we shape our lessons and classrooms. Our learning is rooted in play. Classrooms are filled with engaging centers for children to explore and teachers are found engaging in activities alongside the children.
Each day includes large- and small-group lessons, free play, art, stories, music, literacy, small motor work, math, science, and movement. Teachers plan with Minnesota’s Early Childhood Indicators of Progress in mind, using daily observations to guide, adjust, and create lessons that support each child’s growth.
